neither he nor Danny would know. Jason s tarot readings always foretold of a terrible
problem. He assumed it was financial, and began taking steps to stop that from
happening. Little did either know of the rapidly upcoming wages.
Chapter 17
Danny came back that Saturday, and Jason had bought new cologne for him to
wear. He had the cologne when they first met, but had since used it all. They were in the
room for a good hour talking and laughing when Abby came in.
 Hey
She said stepping in, and allowing a young black man in after her.
Hi, Jason said. He was eyeing up the newcomer in his room.
This is Terrance, Abby said, and they all exchanged greetings.
Oh man, this room is hoppin, He said noticing the quotes Danny had written on
the wall. His reaction was understandable because this room was completely re-done,
while the rest of the attic looked like just an attic.
You guys wanna smoke? Terrance asked holding up a large bag of the green
stuff. Danny and Jason made eye contact. Smiled, then both nodded. Terrance rolled the
cigar very carefully as if it were an art. They all talked and smoked, band Jason put on
some music. Terrance seemed to like all the same songs as Jason, and they talked easily.
The smoke had not all cleare3d before Melissa surprised them all with her
presence. What are you guys doing? She asked walking in and closing the door. She
sniffed the air. Oh, I know she said looking at Jason. Jason, being her big brother did
not really want her in his room, especially after smoking a blunt.
 Mel, go downstairs, Jason said.
No, who s this? She asked looking at Terrance. You re gonna be mad rude and
not introduce me to this nigga? She said to Jason.
Yo, wussup, they call me T , short for Terrance. He said pounding his chest
once with his closed fist. Terrance or T was a thug. He came from the nearby city.
Melissa did not go away; instead she hung around like a fly on a warm summer s day. It
was obvious to Jason that Melissa had a crush on this Terrance kid. Jason however knew
that this kid was twenty years old. Melissa was only fifteen. Jason knew he could never
have Terrance around, if he didn t want her around as well.
She continued to hang around and talk, quite frankly getting on Jason s nerves by
now. By the closing of the evening Terrance and Melissa seemed to be getting
comfortable. This made Jason very uncomfortable.
It was no surprise to Jason the next day when Mary announced to him that
Terrance and her were dating. He had slept over that night, which only added to Jason s
discomfort. Dylene, Jason s mother, seemed to enjoy Terrance s company.
It was only day two and Jason was getting annoyed heavily by this newcomer. He
was completely different in front of different people. Only a few hours around him was
enough time for Jason to get annoyed. By day three, Abby had told Jason that he was a
crack head. Jason had taken that with a grain of salt, until Jason walked in on it at a
friend s house. Later that night after Jason came home from getting a drink for Danny,
Terrance was waiting.
Jason, I ve got a question for ya, Terrance said. He seemed relaxed sitting on
the front porch.
What s that? Jason asked, fumbling for the house keys.
Do you think you could run me to the city?
 For what?
You know the candy rock, rock, crack, He said, now seeming to get excited. I
have a five hundred dollar supply that just came in.
Jason couldn t believe what he was hearing. Was Terrance seriously aski8ng him
to get crack for him. What is he thinking, he s dating my sister and he thinks he s gonna
do drugs all like that? I would but it's two in the morning and I have to go to work
tomorrow.
Oh okay, Terrance said looking down.
The next morning before leaving for work he called Dylene at work. He informed
her of what Abby said, walking in on him, and Terrance asking last night for that favor.
She said she would talk to him. The only reason Jason voiced these concerns was because
it was becoming apparent to him that he was trying to move in.
She never did talk to Terrance and two months had passed by. By now Terrance
had never left the house. He was calling Dylene Mom, and he got everything he asked
for. Melissa had told Terrance that Jason thought he was a crack head. Jason wasn t [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
